BLOC: streetwear cut for real weight and real heat

BLOC is the men's label, and it is built around one observation. Oversized clothing only looks good when the fabric has enough weight to hang properly. A thin tee cut large does not read as relaxed, it reads as ill-fitting. So the BLOC range starts at a heavier GSM than most Indian fast fashion, with a genuine drop shoulder rather than a normal shoulder seam moved outward, and a boxy body that sits away from you instead of clinging in August. Tees, joggers, hoodies and shorts, all made on our floor.

Why GSM is the number that matters

Grams per square metre tells you how much cotton is actually in the cloth. Around 140 to 160 GSM is what most budget tees use, and it is why they go translucent at the shoulders and lose their neck shape inside a season. The BLOC tees sit meaningfully heavier, which costs us more per piece and buys you a garment that holds its shape through repeated washing, drapes properly on an oversized cut, and does not show every line underneath. Our fleece pieces are heavier again, brushed on the inside so the hand feel stays soft after the first few washes rather than pilling.

Getting the oversized fit right

An oversized tee should have the shoulder seam landing on your upper arm, the body skimming rather than tenting, and a hem that sits around mid-fly. If the shoulder seam is at your elbow it is simply too big. Because our oversized styles are already cut generously, take your normal size. Size up only if you want the hem noticeably longer for layering. The joggers work the other way: they are tapered, so most people take their usual size and get a clean line from knee to ankle.

Colours that survive Indian light

Strong sun is unkind to cheap dye. Black turns grey, navy turns purple, and reds go dusty. We dye at a higher fastness rating for exactly this reason, and we keep the BLOC palette in the range of colours that hold up: jet black, deep navy, olive, sand and a small rotation of seasonal shades. Wash inside out, dry in shade rather than direct sun, and a BLOC tee will still look like the one you bought two years in.

How to style oversized without looking swamped

The trick with an oversized top is balance: if the volume is on top, keep the bottom half lean, and if you are wearing wide or cargo trousers, a slightly more fitted tee stops the whole outfit reading as a tent. A half-tuck at the front waistband is the fastest way to add shape to a boxy tee without ironing anything, because it defines where your waist actually is. Footwear settles the mood; the same black oversized tee reads as gym on a running shoe, as considered on a clean white sneaker, and as going-out on a boot. Layering a zip-through hoodie over the tee, both sized the same, keeps the proportions honest instead of stacking one loose shape on another. Oversized is a deliberate look, not an accident of buying big, and a couple of small adjustments are what separate the two.

Questions we get asked

Is an oversized tee the same as buying a size up?

No. An oversized garment is cut differently, with a dropped shoulder and a wider, squarer body. Buying a normal tee one size larger gives you long sleeves and a sagging neckline instead.

Will the hoodie be too warm for Indian weather?

The fleece styles suit October through February across most of north India. For year-round layering, the heavy terry sweatshirt is the lighter choice and breathes better indoors.

Do the joggers have a drawcord and pockets?

Yes. Every BLOC jogger has a functional drawcord, two side pockets, and ribbed cuffs that keep the taper from riding up.

How should I wash a printed tee?

Inside out, cold water, mild detergent, dry in shade. Do not iron directly over the print; press from the reverse side instead.
